Abstract:

The paper describes the emergence and history of a short lived New York Russian literary group “Rezets” (“Cutter”). The group issued a magazine “Spartak” (“Spartacus”) with the contributions by V. Mayakovsky and D. Burliuk. Its first and only issue published in October, 1925 is an extremely rare edition, absent in world’s largest libraries and preserved only in a private collection. Published as an Appendix to the paper are Mayakovsky’s poem Shesterka (The Six), Rezets Manifesto, and D. Burliuk’s poems from the Spartak magazine.
