Abstract:

The publication presents extracts from the manuscript "At the Evening Dawn" (1943–1948) by A.M. Remizov, based on his letters to his wife, S.P. Remizova-Dovgello. The present chapters are devoted to first two years (1921–1922) of Remizovs' life in Berlin. In the introductory note, the origin of the manuscript and distinctive features of Remizov’s biographical genre are discussed. The appendix contains A.M. Remizov’s original letters, which make it possible to evaluate methods of transformation of epistolary documents and analyze Remizov's creative strategy concerning autobiographical works.

Keywords: A.M. Remizov, creative biography, epistolary literature, writer’s letters, archival materials.
