Abstract:

In 2017 is the year of the 120th anniversary of A. Vetlugin, who is among the brightest representatives of the first wave Russian emigres who exerted a great influence on the public opinion of the Russian emigration in the 1920s. In history of the Russian émigré literature and journalism he is known by his pen name A. Vetluguin; his real name is V.I. Ryndziun (1897–1953). Although there exist several studies dedicated to his biography and heritage, his student years at Moscow University remain poorly studied. The present article intends to fill the gap.

Keywords: A. Vetluguin, V.I. Ryndziun, Moscow Imperial University, World War I, February Revolution, October Revolution, Russian emigration.
