Abstract:

The article presents the continued publication of the chapters from A.M. Remizov’s manuscript “At the Evening Dawn” (1943–1948), based on his letters to his wife, S.P. Remizova-Dovgello. The chapter devoted to 1924 contains the plots of the writer's life which are related to the problems of his assimilation into Russian diaspora in Paris. The daily correspondence between the marrieds consists the names of Remizov’s closest friendly circle, a chronicle of his works, the nature of relationships with publishing houses in emigration, translators, representatives of French literature and Slavistics. The recent chapter is accompanied by the historical and literary commentary to the manuscript with out-of-print archival materials that are introduced into scientific use for the first time. The article also contains a comprehensive scientific bibliography which is at the up to date level of study of the realities of author’s private life, his work and also of the historical process features, which are mentioned in Remizov’s texts. The Appendix contains the original letters of Remizov that makes possible to evaluate his methods of transforming the epistolary documents into a fiction and to analyze the author's strategy in his work on autobiographical texts. The publication is illustrated with rare archival materials.
